BGauss D15i Electric Scooter Review – Price, Range in 2023

Bgauss is a pure Indian EV brand that’s backed by some of the biggest market leaders like RR Kabel. BGauss is one of those few brands in India that is working towards making E-scooters in India, for Indians, from an Indian POV.

Till now the company has launched 2 electric scooters, the D15 and C12. In our previous articles, we’ve given a user review of BGauss D15 Max and in this article let’s explore BGauss D15i electric scooter.

Thinking of buying BGauss D15i?

Experience it for 7 to 30 days with ZECAT by paying a nominal rent

Design:

In the front, you get a DRL and the branding of “BGauss” within the headlight itself and behind it, you get a lamp.

Uniquely this electric scooter comes in a metal body and uses hard plastic over the required area like mudguard, panels, etc. Also, the wheels in this electric scooter are bigger and more stylish than the other electric scooters. It comes with 16-inch wheels whereas most electric scooters have 14-inch alloy wheels.

From the side profile, you’ll see the branding of the D15i e-scooter, the foot space of the scooter is large enough to accommodate a lengthy person and has plenty of space to keep some stuff in the middle.

On the rear side, you’ll see a drum bream with a PMSM motor attached to the rear wheel, LED brake light, thin indicators, and a metal pillion support.

On the front, you get a big glove box and the same indicators as the back.

Display:

Upon turning on the scooter you see some basic information like speed, oddo meter, trip meter, battery percentage, range available, etc. Although the electric scooter has a very basic display with no fancy graphics or animation, but it looks great.

Buttons:

You have basic buttons:

  • High/low beam
  • Indicators
  • Horn
  • Mode switching button
  • Front light button
  • Kill switch

Beneath you get a mobile phone charging port, key port, double stand, and side stand.

Battery:

This scooter gets an IP-67-rated, removable 3.2kWh lithium-ion battery placed under the seat which eventually leaves none to significantly less under-seat boot space.

You can charge it from the port given beside the leg of the scooter.

Range:

With a 3kWh battery, it gives a 100-120km range. Although other EVs with a similar battery capacity give better range because it’s got a metal body you get a little bit short on the range.

Special features:

Hidden boot: You get a hidden boot under the footboard.

Warranty:

It gives a warranty of up to 36,000 km, on all electrical components like, batteries, motors, controllers, BMS, etc.

Riding experience:

On the first go, sitting on it gave me a comfortable feeling, the posture was a bit straining, but for an average-height person, it can work comfortably. It’s got a side-stand sensor which I forgot, and it didn’t start until I removed it.

In the eco-mode, it got a sharp pickup, and it revved up to 40km/h very comfortably. The BGauss D15i easily handles all the speed-breakers and challenging road conditions, it gave me some good road presence but the sharp pickup and overtaking capabilities it has got.

In sports mode, this EV gains even more acceleration and oomph. Surpassing all the other vehicles on the road this electric vehicle proved worthy of being an electric vehicle.
