After Revolt Motors, Tork is India’s second biggest EV seller, with only one product “Kartos R” available in the Market. However, they have very few sales numbers compared to Revolt, and to counter that, the company is going ahead with the discounting method.
In the month of Feb, the company could sell 143 electric bikes only. Whereas Revolt sold 480 electric bikes, this huge difference brought these discounted electric bikes. The company also added that the discount on electric bikes are available only until March.

The Significant Price Slash
Surprisingly, Tork Motors has offered the Kratos R model at a much lower price. Now, the vehicle is available at just 1.50 lakh INR, a significant reduction from its usual price of 1.87 lakh INR. This discount offer is available only till the end of March 2024, which coincides with the expiration of the FAME-II scheme.
Impact of FAME-II Scheme
The FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) is a government subsidy scheme supporting the growth of EVs in India. The Kratos R currently qualifies for a 22,500 INR FAME-II subsidy. But with the scheme’s expiration on the horizon, the startup is keen to accelerate its sales and clear its existing inventory.
Sales Performance of Tork Motors
Despite the quality and performance of their products, Tork Motors has faced some challenges in terms of sales. 2023 the company sold almost 1,600 motorcycles, but the sales figure dropped to 364 units in the first two months of 2024. This price reduction is a strategic move to boost sales and clear their stock before the subsidy withdrawal.
Future of Electric Two-Wheelers in India
The future of electric two-wheelers in India largely depends on the government’s support and policies. Although the FAME-II scheme is ending, industry experts are optimistic about the government’s continued support for the EV sector. However, if no new subsidy scheme is introduced, electric two-wheelers may become more expensive in the near term.
Wrapping Up
Tork Motors’ decision to slash prices is a smart move to boost sales. However, it also highlights the importance of government support in making EVs affordable for the masses. While the end of the FAME-II scheme may pose some challenges, it is hoped that the government will introduce new measures to continue promoting EV adoption in India.
